Global Darussalam Academy GDA

Health and Medical Services

Global Darussalam Academy is committed to fostering a healthy school environment and ensuring access to medical care for students and all members of the GDA community. The following points outline our health and medical service procedures:

  • The school clinic is staffed with a doctor and nurse available daily from 07:00 to 17:00.
  • In the event of an incident on campus, parents will be contacted promptly, with student confidentiality maintained wherever possible.
  • Several hospitals are located near Jalan Kaliurang. In an emergency, the school nurse will help arrange medical appointments. Whenever possible, students will be accompanied by the school nurse or a member of the boarding team.
  • Parents are required to provide a complete health history for their child at the start of the academic year and promptly update the nurse with any changes throughout the year.
  • Students’ personal medications MUST be stored in the boarding office and will be administered by the school nurse or senior boarding staff. Every dosage will be carefully recorded.
  • Students are not permitted to keep any medication in their rooms.
  • If a student feels unwell during school hours, they must report to the school nurse immediately. If the nurse is unavailable, they may report to the boarding office.

Medications students are allowed to carry at all times:

  1. Inhalers for asthma (e.g., Ventolin/Salbutamol)
  2. EpiPen or other adrenaline auto-injectors for severe allergies/anaphylaxis
  3. Insulin and glucose tablets/gels for students with diabetes
  4. Doctor-prescribed creams or ointments (e.g., for eczema, acne, etc.)
  5. Topical eye or ear drops
